Content Marketing is the buzzword in 2013. Many companies slowly start to discover content as what it is for years: the most important element. Google has become better in discovering cheap content. The rise of social networks has led to content being discussed, shared and spread – if it’s really good. This is also the reason why Content Marketing will not disappear in the next years. Content Marketing is probably the mostly hyped online topic in 2013. Many understood it, some not. Some try really hard to get traffic by providing added value. Which network is better: Facebook or Google+? Which networks works better in which case? I’ll dig into the question and show you cannot compare the two. Or can you? About two and a half years ago Google+ came up on the screen and developed fine ever since. From the outside it seems no Google product has ever grown that fast. And of course Google really needed a success in the social business. Too many tries had failed. Google Wave and Google Buzz went down the toilet. So is Google+ a success? Probably. At least successful enough to compare it to Facebook steadily. But this is a major problem: if you compare Facebook and Google+ you haven’t really understood it! Click here and read the full article.

The buzzword “content marketing” sounds in everybody’s ears nowadays. Not too long ago the online world was easy. If you wanted fast success, you knew what to do: huge amounts of spam projects entered the Google index daily, loads of links that where created quick and dirty, pushing these sites on top of the search results. But then it was Google’s turn: first Panda, then Penguin. Heads roll. And faster as you could say “reconsideration request” it was over with spammy projects. Since then there is a new goal: high quality content. A whole branch in commotion, but… is content marketing really something new? No. It was always there, but meanwhile people understood its meaning. Unfortunately there is a whole bunch of things you can do wrong. How to make sure the curse of content marketing does not fall on you? Click here and read the full article.

Online shops are part of the internet and the latest since Amazon began to break through, even the last doubts to sell product online were killed. Revenue of online retailers grew 27% in 2012 for example and perspectives are looking good. With such conditions it’s understandable the amount of online shops is increasing. Problem: not every shop works well, creates enough revenue or fights with legal problems. Basically it’s not complicated, if you have a good strategy and know what to do before (re)launching. Having a strategy means to know what a good online shop looks like and how it has to be designed. The following 7 characteristics provide a good basis of knowledge for online shops. Twitter wants to follow Facebook and get its IPO done. This makes sense, eventually Twitter grows steadily. A successful IPO will ensure that growth – also because it will ensure more money for expansion. As many other social networks that live from user generated content, the often named “short message service” does, too. In fact it’s a user dependency and lack of own content. It works fine, but there are also many people who don’t really understand it – although it could be so easy. Many mistakes are made on Twitter, and they all could be avoided. I document 7 of those – don’t counterfeit! Click here and read the full article.

After “web 2.0″, “social media” and “content marketing” it’s about time to deal with another fad: the “corporate blog”. A corporate blog gives companies the opportunity to display themselves much more transparent as any commercial could. Used right it’s not a secret weapon but a silver bullet. Usually all companies have the same problem: as soon as they have reached a certain size roles are clearly distributed. Of course there is personnel for marketing and PR but the thought to employ a “corporate blogger” is really far away. It suffices to do this work in the PR department, but there is one problem: a corporate blog does not consist of press releases. Those can be distributed via channels that exist for a long time. Local SEO is often underrated. Especially companies that operate in a certain geographic area can massively benefit from Local SEO. Regional providers have always been there, so it’s not unusual for them to not have been able to expand internationally or supra-regionally – or didn’t want to. It’s not always the best idea to be represented in every market, because sometimes the product or production is just not suitable for that. Anyway, regional providers have to deal with search engine optimization. To be informed a look at the yearly Local SEO ranking factors that were recently republished is helpful. Therefore several experts in the field of local search engine optimization have been interviewed. So what really works in Local SEO? Click here and read the full article.

Video SEO is still an area that’s quite neglected, though there is a lot of potential. On YouTube you can make a lot of money with really good working videos. At the latest since the video for “Gangnam Style”, which gave Korean Psy sudden world success, it should be clear to critics. YouTube is the second biggest search engine after Google. Every minute 100 hours of video material are being uploaded. Of course there is something for every topic. More and more people meanwhile search for video content like manuals, product reviews, tutorials and more. Besides that there is of course entertainment and it should be a goal for viral content to drive brand awareness and lead traffic to the website. That’s why a video should be primarily embedded on one’s own site and be “connected” with YouTube. But what has to be considered? I created a check list based on my own experience of the recent years. Click here and read the full article.
